MOODY BRIDALS

She’s moving and wanted pictures with a PNW vibe to remember Washington by. I figured we couldn’t go wrong with a rocky beach and all that green.

Non-traditional bridal portraits are so much fun.

“The core of your true self is never lost. Let go of all the pretending and the becoming you’ve done just to belong. Curl up with your rawness and come home. You don’t have to find yourself; you just have to let yourself in.” ~  D. Antoinette Foy

FREE PNW ELOPEMENT GIVEAWAY

Good vibes. I feel so many good vibes. And good vibes should be passed on.

I rekindled a dream in 2016. I feel lucky to have found photography again, to have been afforded the time to further my art, my skills. Re-discovering my enthusiasm for an art form I thought I’d long ago lost all passion for has been such a blessing, and while life isn’t entirely a bed of roses and I’m not exactly where I’d like to be yet in my career, I – finally, blissfully – feel like I’m moving in the right direction.

I feel lucky. For so long, I’ve felt like a drone to be used to further others’ dreams, others’ goals. It wasn’t until late this past year that I woke up and realized I also have every right to pursue mine.

I’m offering a giveaway for a free *elopement/intimate wedding in 2017. FREE. That means you get my shooting time for the ceremony and wedding portraits, my driving time (as long as it’s within a 3 hour drive of Bothell, WA), and all edited images sent to you electronically to print and share as you wish – FOR FREE. In a nutshell: I, my time, and my skills will cost absolutely nothing.

You don’t have to share this post. You don’t have to solicit others. This isn’t about marketing. It’s about giving something to someone else without any strings attached. When my husband and I got married, we struggled to pay for our wedding. The cost of the photographer alone took a huge chunk of our budget, and the stress on our shoulders from carrying such a hefty financial strain did, unfortunately, leech some of the joy from that day. So, if I can help one couple out there have their dream elopement while easing the financial strain that can go along with tying the knot, I’m all for it.

So how do you enter? Either comment on my facebook post or shoot an email to lsphoto@comcast.net with your name, wedding date, location, and name of your favorite book. I’ll throw ‘em all in a hat on New Year’s Eve and pick a winner.

Let’s make 2017 great. Refuse to be a drone. Go after your dreams. And give a little back when you can.

Happy day, all!

*Intimate wedding = 6 or less people

When one amazing friend introduces you to two of her amazing friends, well, something pretty amazing happens.

WASHINGTON COAST ELOPEMENT INSPIRATION: ROD & RELLA

It was cold, rainy, and wet.  On the beach, the wind was unforgiving.  Frigid sea spray glazed our skin, coated my camera lens, and filled our lungs.

But that didn’t stop Rod and Rella.  Adventurous to their cores, to them this was the perfect way to spend the day.  Plus, when you’re in love it really doesn’t matter what the weather’s like.

Sweet words of congratulations followed us on the trail.  The hikers we passed oohed and ahhhed over this adorable couple and the obvious adoration they have each other.  More than once we heard, “Now this is the way to get married!” or “Oh, how I wish we’d done this!”

Because weddings can be stressful.  Elopements?  Eh, not so much.

All you need to do is pick a place where your heart can sing and show up.  The vows, the declarations of love, the promises of forever…  That’s the easy part.

Nature is my church.  And on this day, the entire forest offered witness and sang its blessings.
